Israel Extends Surveillance in Public Parks Using PoE IP Cameras
Inside of one of Israel’s major cities, families and children are enjoying their public parks safely, thanks to the intelligent work of a multinational physical security group the MER Group and their use of cost‐effective Enable‐IT PoE Ethernet extenders and PoE IP cameras.
The MER Group, major physical security integrator which is an Israeli holding company that spans telecom, security, and other subsidiaries, was recently asked to secure the public parks of Rishon Lezion, the fourth largest city in Israel, via PoE IP Cameras. In some cases, installing these PoE IP cameras was fairly easy, because they were within 100 meters of an existing control box. However, in some more sensitive scenarios, the MER Group had to deal with installing PoE IP cameras in places that were well beyond the 100 meter distance limit and that did not have a power source nearby.
After MER’s Director of Projects assessed the costs and complications of deploying more control equipment boxes throughout the park, he did some research and found out about PoE Ethernet extenders. Which, unlike fiber or wireless, could securely extend IP PoE Cameras to very long distances. He settled on Enable-IT PoE Ethernet extenders for their IP POE Camera deployments. This decision was based off of Enable-IT’s reputation for performance and reliability, hallmarks of the MER Group brands.
“The Enable‐IT 865 PRO PoE Ethernet extenders allowed us to forget about having to install more control equipment boxes throughout the park, which would’ve been costly and unsightly,” said the Director of Projects. “Instead, we could simply place our PoE cameras about 400 meters away from the nearest control equipment box and connect our PoE Ethernet extender units at each end of the link. It was easy and, since then, the extenders have performed very well for us and the city.”
Enable‐IT 865 PRO PoE Ethernet Extenders can drive Ethernet data up to over ten times Ethernet’s distance limit (just 328 ft/100 m). This equates to 2,500ft/762m distance when using the PoE power to drive up to a 30v PoE device. Furthermore, extending up to 3,500ft/1,067m distance when using the PoE power standalone for the remote 865 PRO CPE device only and LAN2 output for data/voice.
