Requirements:
Make sure you have installed Java on your Microsoft based x86 PC running a version of MS Windows 8 to 10. Not Windows 11, MacOS, Linux or any modern 21st century chipset like the Apple silicon, Snapdragon, other ARM based hardware.
The tool is a self executable Javascript tool and will just run if you have Java installed.
If the firmware uncompresses into a folder with files – you don’t have your Java installed correctly and will need to fix that 1st.
You will also need to find, download and install the Npcap low level packet driver.
Step 1 – Connect the kit to be programmed to the LAN port on your designated Microsoft based x86 PC.
Step 2 – Double click on the firmware.jar icon – it will run and takes several long minutes to scan your network to see the attached units for programming.
Step 3 – Select each unit – one at a time and the 1st screen will show the Domain Name: HomeGrid (default). Change the domain name (for example Domain 1 or Domain A). Make changes to the remote end unit 1st as it will loose connection if parameters such as domain don’t match the local node.
Step 4 – Save the configuration and then select the other unit and do the same.
Once done – you can rediscover the Network and see both units.
Step 5 – Perform an out of the box test to ensure the units see each other and sync. You can factory default if the Domain name change did not take and perform the update again.
Other Tuning:
For filtering broadcast traffic – Select the last Tab at the top right of the screen – Multicast & Filtering.
Make changes to the remote end unit 1st as it will loose connection if parameters such as domain don’t match the local node.
Step 1 – Change the 3rd field – Filter unknown multicast traffic: from YES – to NO
Step 2 – You can also change the 4th field – Broadcast put limit – from 2 to 0
Step 3 – Select update on the bottom left and then click refresh at the top of the screen
Then select the other unit and do the same process.
Once done – you can rediscover the Network and see both units. Perform an out of the box test to ensure the units see each other and sync.
